Wow
What a weekend of sports.
Florida, Oklahoma, West Virginia and other upsets?? The Rockies winning like 13 of 14 to get a tiebreaker into the playoffs?? The Mets not making it?? Man, if the Rockies win tomorrow, I could possibly call this my most exciting sports weekend.

I'm In The Market
I was looking at that yesterday and trying to think how feasible it would be. There's got to be something better. I mean its cool and all, but if I'm going to make something like that, it had better at least be a bubbler. Maybe a hollowed out zapper pipe? A SuperScope bong?
Also, that Texas Legislature thing is INSANE.
I keep seeing things for Donkey Kong and getting all excited. We're going to the retro arcade-bar tonight and I'm going to play some serious Donkey Kong. After watching King of Kong (please download it, you'll be happy) I want to play it so bad. After they stated that like only 1% of people ever get past the first 4 levels, I knew that was a challenge.
Also I made reservations for Las Vegas. I'll ask for money at some point in the next two months or so.

Also,
My friend Whitney (my former freshman and sophomore year roommate) just had a break up last night and needs me. So, I have invited her to ladies' night. I hope you guys don't mind. I think you'll like her.
I think fall is the best!
Lindy, Cassie, Meg, Bonnie? When and where? I have officially lost my driver's license so I'll need a ride. LOVE.

I starting to freak out now
Since I projected the Cubs as the winners of the NL Central, they have lost two straight and now only have a 2 game lead with 4 to play. To throw gas on the fire, the Cubs manager has decided to play Jason Kendall at catcher from here on out. Jason Kendall sucks. All he can do is occasionally hit a single and would not throw out Bonnie one in six times if she were trying to steal on him. The alternative to Jason Kendall is hitting somewhere around .375 with a 1.100 OPS. That is essentially like having Barry Bonds behind the plate. But no, Kendall will play in front of him because he is more "experienced" (at sucking). I am gunna lose my mind.
Oh, and the Cubs traded for Steve Trachsel and he is the starting pitcher tonight. He sucks even more than Kendall and once again, we have a vastly superior young guy not playing because the Cubs are fuckin moronic. I just lost my mind.
10 wins in a row for the Rockies though. That's fuckin impressive.
And Dustin, I hate Dice Clay. I was totally kidding.

Ted Nugent
Did you know Cat Scratch Fever really exists? My friend, Brad, had a giant swollen lymph node the size of a golf ball on his hip and they thought it was lymphoma, and they surgically removed it to see what it was. It turns out he has Cat Scratch Disease, which is not from too much Ted Nugent, but from a bacteria that resists penicillin that you get from cat bites or scratches, or even from petting cats with the bacteria on their fur. Isn't that interesting?!

Random youtube stuff
Have to take a break today so I'm going to post some youtube vids this afternoon. I can't even hear what this guy is saying, but I can TELL it would make me wake up in a cold sweat. (The Atheist Nightmare: a banana)
Margaret Cho...on stage....
Derren Brown is fuckin ridiculous. Watch ANY of his shit.

What happens
This was a game in June against the Brewers. Bottom of the 9th, two outs, two men on, Cubs down two. (Wrigley seriously gets louder than any other place in sports when this type of shit goes down)
I Think The Cubs Got It
I was really impressed with Colorado's 8 game win streak, however the last 6 games look pretty hard. Other than Bradley, the idiot who tore his ACL arguing, it looks good for the Padres. This playoff race has been surprisingly interesting with the NL East and Central
Playoffs
Today I have decided to declare the Chicago Cubs the projected winners of the NL Central. The Cubs and Brewers have a combined 12 games left to play. Any combo of 4 Cubs wins or Brewers losses means they clinch. Now the best case scenario is the Rockies also make the playoffs, the Cubs and Rockies both win in the first round, and I get to watch the Cubs go to the World Series in person here in Denver.

Oh, Josh, "Close Calls With Brick Walls" is Great
It is pretty different from his previous ones, though. I've only listened through once, but it seems more like one whole as opposed to a bunch of single tracks like on "I Get Wet." The first two songs are really just there to build you up for the third, etc. It is definitely better than "The Wolf" and perhaps borrows from "The Wolf" a bit stylistically. Instead of the hard rockin' of "I Get Wet," "Close Calls With Brick Walls" basically takes the grandeur that he tried to express in "The Wolf" and refines the music down to its essence. It is almost like the music got more complex yet at the same time it is simpler in the way that all of his songs are relatively simple. I don't know the best way to get it to you, but you need to listen to it somehow since I got the Korean bonus tracks.
IS THIS TRUE?
Wow, wow, wow. Between this and the Don't Taze Me Bro, this week has had some weird news.

Little Girl Kitty Is Also a Great Name
Cassie, descriptive is about the best word I can imagine to describe that name.
I have no idea if Grimnak knows his name or for that matter what the hell is going on. I've very pleased I can confidently tell people that our dog is named after a Dinosaur riding orc. The best description someone has given for Grimnak is a Chain Chomp. I would love to do it for halloween, but I don't know how much more I could add to him. He's small, all black, he bites and bites and bites when he plays (is he actually playing?), and he doesn't stop.
Speaking of nintendo, Jackass made a full scale Donkey Kong replica which I think is pretty awesome.

Names
When I adopted Cricket her name was Tillie -- and she'd had that name for a while before I brought her home. The hardest part of renaming her was picking a name (she was quite happy to answer to the new one). I imagine cats respond pretty much the same way. That said, as adorable a name as Cookie Flower is, I think I still like Little Girl Kitty. Its just so...descriptive.
Next saturday
I did request off, Cassie! I will be having a triumphant return to Boulder with you. Please can we have ladies night or just fun night?
Happy birthday to Lindy, Dice, and Dustin

Get the fuck out
Las Vegas Nevada??!! That is some fate. How is the album? I can't believe I haven't listened to it yet.
Sorry to bring up the Cubs, but Drew has your whole family been gritting their teeth over the last month? I'm surprised to say this, but the playoff situation has been kind of interesting. Between the NL Central, Yankees moving up quick, the falling of the Mets and even cooler the fact that the Rockies are still in the hunt, I've been rather interested to see who moves on. I still think baseball is crazy boring, but maybe playoffs will be interesting.

AWK is Fate!
Allright, Josh, remember when we were in New York and I got the first W.K. album and it had "I Love New York City" on it? This one has "Las Vegas, Nevada" on it.
Kim. One song is titled, simply, "I Want Your Face."
Another song is "Slam John Into a Brick Wall."

Little Girl Kitty vs. Cookie Flower
We need some help, people. We've got this cat, Little Girl Kitty, who is the cutest fluffiest thing in the world. We are considering renaming her CookieFlower, because she never had a proper name to begin with and the one she ended up with just kind of happened. HOWEVER, I think it's a little late in the game to be giving her new names, but Matt thinks she doesn't give a hoot either way. The problem may not be with training her to know her new name, but training me to use it. Any feedback? Votes?

Mac Users At Last!!
I'm not sure if another browser did this before, but ever since I got a Mac I've been REALLY annoyed how when you tab through fields, it never selects the pulldown menus. You always have to select your state with the mouse instead of just typing CO (OR for me now). Well...I was doing it just now and it worked! I did upgrade to the new Safari beta so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, Windows users can laugh because I am honestly pleased that they fixed it.

On second thought.
Because I have two tests next week and not much time to study, I will put off celebrating birthday until I can give you all more notice.
Dustin, I'll try to make it after work Saturday. Happy birthday, too!

Ice cream social?
Are you going to the sock hop, too? Whose ice cream social is this that it's more important than Lindy's birthday?
So....
Friday being tomorrow and Sunday being this Sunday? I think I can make both.
Remember: I'm having a party at my place in Louisville Saturday day/night. Day I think we will be board gaming it up, the night will be whatever. Come whenever.
My address: 338 Gorham Ct, Louisville 80027
Super packed weekend of fun!

Oh, to answer your question
Obviously, I have no plans on my birthday because of stupid work. I was thinking of having a dinner thing on Sunday evening, if there are people available. I know it's a shitty time, but it's the only evening I have off until the second week of October, basically. But, I have not decided. Is anyone free on Sun night? It doesn't even have to be a restaurant dinner thing. I could cook!.
Tears
Unfortunately, I am working on our birthday, so I cannot come join Drew to celebrate. BUT, OLI is pretty near my work, so if I get off at any kind of reasonable hour, I will call and see what ya'll are doing.
Also, Cassie, I have my schedule for next week, I am working Friday night, but I am totally fine to go out after work, and I can always request to be the one who leaves early. Also, I could cancel volunteering for Saturday morning in order to not be a lameass- I- go -to -bed -early -because -I -hate-friends bitch.

Stuff
Lindy, what are your birthday plans? It is the same day as Drew's.
Also, my sister is getting married. The one who is 26, not 6. She is getting married October 6, which she announced this weekend. Whirlwind! Most of you don't know her, but you may remember that she was the one who received the masturbating Santa given by Matt at the first BonnieKim Christmas white elephant party. She threw it down in disgust, and it was hilarious.

Birthdays
Lindy has one coming up, too. Happy birthdays all around.
I'm going to be in Colorado the weekend after this one, and I'm thinking of coming up to Boulder Friday night (the 28th) with Meg (if she gets time off). Can we plan a ladies night? I'm so excited to see friends and fall colors!
And thank you, Josh, for basically planning out our Vegas trip. Its going to be amazing.
Drew is Old
My dear husband of just over a year will be a quarter of a century old on Friday. To celebrate his gray hair we will meet at The OLD LOUISVILLE INN in Louisville @7:30pm.
Let me know if you are coming so I can make a reservation.
No gifts please, just come and be funny...like John's face. Olirish.com

Trivia tonight!
Boulder/Denver people: Trivia will take place tonight at the Irish Snug pub at 1201 E Colfax at 8PM. It's Geeks Who Drink trivia, and thus, super fun. Please come.
Two more things
If you want a smoking room, tell me that.
I really can't guarantee a refund if you need to drop out. Since rooms are being shared I can't be sure that I can could just cancel one, so its going to be much better to say no refunds.

Ok, I Apologize For The Changes
But...here we go. With this solution:
Couples who want the living room clear (no one on the foldout) have that option.
Every single person gets their own bed (either king or foldout)
So, I'm sorry about the price hike, but the things I have to make sure of include the reservation fees and also a little bit of extra money to make sure I'm not bugging you for more money in case someone bails out. So, rates:
For the couples:
$75 for your own room
$65 if you are fine with someone staying on the foldout
The only stipulation with having your own room is that if an even number of couples choose this, they have to stay with each other. Or Die (from Gloria). That makes sense right? However if there are an odd number of couples wanting this, I won't charge the extra couple $10 each just because they don't have someone on the foldout. You don't have to worry about who's staying with you. Just choose an option and that's what you pay.
For the singles:
$55
You get your own bed either in a foldout in the 2-bedroom villa, or sharing a king and a foldout in a studio room. If for some reason you want your own personal bedroom its $110, but unless you want that assume you'll be in a studio with someone else.
Again, sorry I had to raise the rates, but I made a few assumptions that affected the rates. I think this plan will benefit the private couples and the singles much more. Even though it may cost a little more, it will be easier not worrying about splitting beds. So, sorry if I led anyone on to a better price, but just consider us starting from scratch.
Finally, if any of you couples would like your own room, just email me or tell me on the forum. Also, if you have any questions or discussion, please bring it up. I don't want to make assumptions and leave someone annoyed about my plans.

No Discrimination
Its more that I have to get $120 for each bedroom in order to pay my dad back. The bed occupied price is only for the bedrooms, not the foldouts. Still, $40 a night for a bedroom is pretty cheap. I'm just pricing the foldouts cheaply because well...they're foldouts. The foldouts are going to be the same price regardless of how many people are in the room. They won't be cheaper if two people share the bed or anything like that. That way no one needs to worry about cramming people into a room, everyone will end up paying the same regardless of who's in their room.
Me and my dad are going to make reservations for three 2-bedrooms. At Thanksgiving I'll come around for money, but until then, just assume ~$120 for a bed or~$40 for a possibly shared foldout.
Also Meg, I'm sure we can get you your own foldout so you don't have to sleep next to John and a sleazy Taiwanese hooker.
Edited: 2:11pm PST
Ignore all of this, I'm figuring everything out again.

Meg, I think you should be on our foldout! Besides, I'd imagine we'll just split the room price 5 ways (by people in the room) rather than by bed occupied. Right? Doesn't that seem fair?
Don't discriminate
against non-couple people like me, I want a foldout please , I'll be cool if you peeps need to kick me out occaisionaly to have sex. Don't make me pay for a whole bed myself. PLEASE!

I am hurting
Damn dudes. I am in pain. (This is Dice)
Thursday night I went to my first jiu jitsu class. It really kicked my ass (although I caught a guy in a triangle and an americana and did not tap out the whole class). It wasn't until Saturday that I realized that my legs were COMPLETELY destroyed. They have never, ever, been this sore, ever. I spent all day walking around like an old man. In fact, I walked like an old man over to Cheesman Park to meet a friend at the Pagan Festival there. Some sword fighting people were meeting there which is something he does. For no reason at all, while Bonnie was taking belly dancing lessons, I decided to spar with my pal. He has been doing competitive sword fighting tournaments for two years now. I did get the first two points though, and it was about even until he did this triple fake out move which ended with be blocking a shot with my un-gloved hand. Right on my old broken finger. Its all swollen now. I hurt.

I'm afraid I have not seen your cds, Kim, since that one time you brought them in to burn a bunch, but that was like four months ago. I wish I had found them, that way I could be your hero.

Diva Las Vegas
I definitely want to go see Cirque du Soleil. I also thing the gentlemen would have it in their best interest to see a hilarious/awesome strip show. I also firmly believe that the best idea is to go to the joust show at the Excalibur. Holy shit, we'd be tanked and cheering so hard and loud for our knight that he'd make us his squires.
And I'm looking at John, Dustin, and Dice with a firm eye about spending too much time at the poker tables. All I'm asking is that you hang out in at least equal portions. I love you all.

6 Max
I won't book any room with more than 6 people. The only reason that would happen is if someone decided to come a week beforehand, didn't already have a room and needed to stay with one of us.
Room stuff
I think Willie and I would prefer not to sleep in a room with 6 other people...4 others might be okay if its necessary, but our first choice is still sharing a 2 bdrm with another couple. Unless of course so many people are coming that we really need to fill up all the rooms. How many people are coming, anyway?
I would love to go to a Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas. I think "O" sounds better than "Love" but that's just me. Whatever is fine.

CD's?
Hi. This is mostly for Matt and Lindy, Bonnie and Drew. My CD is case is missing and I'm completely depressed. I thought I would check with both of you couples since I know I have brought my CD's into your homes at one time or another. It is black and blue and has about 100 CDs in it. Thanks for checking.
Wednesday, September 12, 2007
I do.
I would be interested in seeing Cirque du Soleil's "Love." Also, I would like to see fancy dance girls with big costumes.
Finally, the White Stripes canceled appearance this weekend at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, along with the rest of their tour, due to Meg White's acute anxiety issues. That was one of the bands I was most excited about. Now I am not as excited.
However, I am excited about Celine Dion. Actually, I don't think I could handle that.

Next big question
Who wants to see Celine Dion? Or Cirque du Soleil? or Thunder from Down Under, Australia's male revue? or something else?
I would be interested in attending a performance, and they had a list a visitlasvegas.com, where you could enter your trip dates and find stuff. let's do that!

Ok, Last Major Question
Sorry, I really didn't want to make this complicated, but I think I know what I'm doing now. The final question is: out of the people staying in a bedroom, who does not want someone in the foldout and wants to room held to 4 people? We'll figure out exact prices later with people on foldouts and splitting rooms, but unless you post here or email me, I'm going to assume every foldout is fair game.
Room Occupancy
Each room can hold up to 8 people. So if more people come, everyone who's already made their reservations (youse guys) will have the bedrooms reserved, and everyone who comes later can sleep on the foldouts. Does that sound reasonable? I'll figure out a bedroom rate and a foldout rate once the time comes, but for now, just assume the price I've given you.

Tattoo
Josh, you'd seriously be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't get a Phillipe tattoo. Gloria, you should get Lyle. It wouldn't be a bad idea to do one of the panels from "Ray Gets Sort of Stoned," either.
Portland
I was about to post on that but you beat me to it. Josh...how can you NOT take advantage of that. I would be ALL OVER a Lie Bot tattoo. You NEED to take advantage of this opportunity...NOW. I am NOT kidding.
Also Vegas
Mikey and I will share a 2 bedroom, preferably with 4 people total. Although, we wouldn't mind having a studio if stuff ends up uneven.
MUSICS
I just want to brag. Ben Kweller touched my stomach last weekend. Also, last night I attended this thing put on by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame called The Craft. They go around the country to different venues and put on free shows with free MGD and they interview a different musician and s/he discusses and plays his or her music. Last night it was Ben Gibbard. It was kind of unreal. He played 9 songs acoustically and the rest of the 2.5 hours was interview. It was super cool. Plus, they curtained off the Fillmore to about half its size and there were about 100 people there. I was in the front row and I saw his mouth move. It was hot. I was very happy because he seemed down-to-earth, humble, and extremely nervous. He also said he loves the band Big Star.
Las vegas
Alright, I'm down with a foldout or whatever.
I don't think Ani will be able to come as she is starting Nursing school around that time.
I don't think Ani will be able to come as she is starting Nursing school around that time.
roomies
I'm not even consulting Matt on this, but I'm sure that we are fine with splitting a two bedroom villa two or three ways. Josh, you decide based on if you have an odd or even number of 'couples' or whatever.
If For No Other Reason
that Portland is a cool town, look at the top of Achewood, where he writes the news:
We're finishing MAN WHY YOU EVEN GOT TO DO A THING #6 - Strip returns Wednesday.
FREE Achewood tattoos (real ink, no kidding) for the duration of September - Portland, OR - contact Ximena at The Urban Soul. A service happily provided.
Forgot To Make That Clear
I need what room, and if it's a 2-bedroom, what arrangement you would like, 4 person or 6 person?
You Don't Need to Declare Who's Rooming With You
I'm sure that will get figured out quickly, but it isn't needed.
Cool
Bonnie and I would like to share a villa with some peeps. Do we need to decide who is sharing with who now? Who wants to be on team Bonandy?
We got a cat yesterday. Fucker acts like its lived with us for years. Headbutting us lovingly and following us around and sleeping on/around us on the first day. It's name is "Professional." It is nice. Hopefully after a month my eyes and nose won't still be destroying me.

Ok Final Price Sheet Before Reservations
I need everyone to give me what room they want to be in by this Friday. My dad and I are going to make reservations. Once I get that information I'll ask people for money to send down to me or my dad.
I'm assuming that we're going from January 18th to the 21st, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. These still aren't the final prices, but they again they should be close.
Studio:
Your own bedroom, bathroom, etc. Basically a very nice, simple hotel room. It will be exactly the same as the others, except without the kitchen, living rooms of the villas.
~$105 for 3 nights
~$52 per person (Obviously I'm assuming that couples will stay in these)
1 Bedroom Villa:
I'm not sure why anyone would rather stay here as opposed to a studio or the 2 bedroom, but if you want a swanky 1 bedroom, this is it. Big master bed and bathroom with whirlpool bath. Fully equipped kitchens, sweet living rooms.
~$183 for 3 nights
~$91 per person
2 bedroom villa:
I think this is the best option. If two people split this, you get a badass bedroom and everyone shares the kitchen and living room. Here's the prices for that room.
~$249 for 3 nights
~$62 per person (4 people sharing villa, own bedroom)
~$41 per person (6 people sharing villa, foldout needs to be shared)
Ok, if everyone is set on the dates, go ahead and tell me what room you would like and we'll make reservations.

Indeed Next Question
Yeah, since its so cheap, it may be fine doing it that way. Here's the breakdown for everyone
With Foldout: ~$35 a person.
Without, only 4 people in bedroom: ~$52
I'll ask my dad if he would have enough points to do that.

Yes, but...
I'm assuming that you meant the nights of the 18th, 19th, and 20th. Also, since it's already so cheap, would anyone want to share a 2 bedroom place and not have to rotate rooms and sleep on the couch?
Confirmation from Few Others
Willie, Cassie, Bonnie, Drew, are those dates ok? If so, I'll make reservations for January 20th, 21st and 22nd (Fri night, Sat night, Sun night). Matt, you mentioned going until Tuesday so I'll check and see if when we could extend our stay by a day if we wanted.
vegas
I'm totally in, January i perfect for me to go on vacation, and missing a monday is much better for me. VACATION!!
In the desert, you don't have internet
Since we're back, I'll vote.
I definitely vote for Sat-Mon in January (18-21?), because we don't have school monday and then I wouldn't have to be missing anything.
Kim- you have seriously been driving without a license that long? You're nuts.
We have been the Balls Tars for about two weeks now.

We're Back
From Lake Powell. Here is what I, Matt, think of the situation.
I like it. And I can pretty much go whenever, but missing Monday-Tuesday is much better than missing a thursday or a friday. So, I propose we start on the weekend and party until the weekday, not the other way around.
I'm all weird feeling from all the driving I just did that it feels like I'm really fucked up crunk or somesuch, so I'm ending this right now.

Fuck Yeah Kim
Get that license back. Don't let the man hold you back.
Obviously I'm definitely for the weekend in January. When each person says if they're in or not, tell me whether Thursday night through Saturday night (Thurs-Sun) or Friday Night through Sunday night (Fri-Mon)would be better. I'm not sure which I like better, I'm leaning toward Thurs-Sun, however with MLK day on Monday, maybe Fri-Mon would be better because it lands on a holiday. If nothing else, its slightly cheaper on Thursday night.
I'm so excited this is working out this smoothly. I'm so excited that we'll all be staying in the same place.
Ah, also I forgot to mention, if anyone has a strong desire to sleep in your own bedroom all weekend, or basically not sleep on a foldout, that's fine, we can get another room for you, however you'll have to pay a little more. There are 1 bedrooms and studios (the 1 bedroom has a living room and kitchen) available also for like $30-$50 a night. Its something like that. So if someone wants to go high class, I can accommodate that also..
Edit: w00t

Finalization
Okay, let's set the date. Friday January 18 - Monday January 21. Yes? Can anyone NOT do that? Please RSVP.
Also, I passed my driver's test today. I haven't had a license in over a year because I'd been in 2 accidents in 3 years and never went to take the test again. Woot.

Josh
Good work.
That's surprisingly cheap, especially in Jan. That'd be nice, since it will be cold and horrible here in CO but nice down in desert town. I'm probably free for all of those though.
I'm down.
Ani will probably be down too as long as we get the dates set.

More Info
Ok, so I checked availability and its pretty good. Here are prices and times to help make a decision. We have to stay 3 nights minimum (its cheap enough that you could just leave early or arrive a day late) so the prices are for three nights. Also these prices are for 2 bedroom villas for 6 people. I figure one of the three nights each couple has to stay on the foldout.
January:
Thursday Night, Friday Night and Saturday Night: ~$175 or $29 a person. (Yes, for the whole weekend)
Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Night: ~$210 or $35 a person.
February:
Thursday Night, Friday Night and Saturday Night: ~$250 or $42 a person.
Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Night: ~$300 or $50 a person.
March:
Thursday Night, Friday Night and Saturday Night: ~$350 or $58 a person.
Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Night: ~$420 or $70 a person.
So lets make a head count of how many people are coming and we'll get 2 bedroom villas for all.
1. Josh
2. Gloria
3. Bonnie
4. Drew
5. Meg
6. Willie
7. Cassie
8. Matt
9. Lindy
10. Kim
11. Mikey
12. Dustin
13. Jesse
14. John
15. Ani?
16. Eli?
17. Andy?
I bet we could fill three 2-bedrooms with 18 people, but we'll figure that out. Also the maximum occupancy is 8 people, so if more people decide to come last-minute, they could stay, however they'd get the floor.

Vegas cont. cont.
I also do not get MLK off, but I can take a day or two off to do this shit. Like I said, I can go.....with the flow (ohhh oh ohhh oh ohhh...)
Also, Saturday night people will be over at my place to watch the UFC fight. All are invited and it will be cramped, but it will be fun because of our awesome floor.

Vegas dates cont'd
I don't have MLK day off, but I think it will still work. So will spring break. Let's do this: who cannot go on MLK weekend, and who cannot go over Willie's spring break?

I'm totally interested in whichever date you guys decide on. I can do any date you guys want. I just need advance notice.
As for Ron Paul, maybe he's so popular on this series of tubes because he's the only republican candidate running as an insurgent. (Libertarians are pretty passionate and vocal about their beliefs anyways.) Just about all of the democratic candidates are running against the "establishment" to some extent so it's hard for democrats to get fired up for just one candidate.

Ok Here's A Question That Has Been Bugging Me
Why is Ron Paul SO huge on the internet and especially digg?? Everyone there hates Bush and seems very liberal. Why is this republican candidate so popular on Digg? Basically, I don't understand his popularity in the first place, but I'm completely baffled at how a republican has WAY more hype and excitement than any of the democratic candidates. Explanations?
Edit: This explained it a bit, but still, I'm surprised to see more about him than Obama.

No can do
I can't do Presidents Day, so MLK would be better. But I still much prefer spring break.
We haven't heard from the Matt/Lindy team either...
Any Problem with MLK Day?
Not that February is bad, but is President's Day better than Martin Luther King Day? Do you not get that day off?
Las Vegas dates
Well, does anyone have any thoughts on doing President's Day weekend? February 15-18? That way no vacation time is involved for me; that would be nice.
Vegas
I am also for going asap. The January dates are perfect for me, but let's actually make up our mind soon so that the rooms won't get taken. Time shares can go fast.
FUN!
FUN!

Often forget about this
Quick Trivia:
At the end of Lethal Weapon where Sargent Riggs (Mel Gibson) fights Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) hand to hand, does it end with
A) A Flying Dragon Uppercut
B) A failed Arm Bar attempt to a Triangle Choke finish
C) Leg Sweep to Head Stomps/Axe Kicks
D) 3 Stooges Eye Poke through the cornea

Geeks Who Drink
I am pretty excited about the new pub quiz I found. Mikey and I wanted to play pool last night so we went to Harpo's, and to our pleasant surprise, trivia was being played by a company called Geeks Who Drink. I'm sure you've all seen their posters around. It was super, though. They had 8 rounds of 8 questions plus bonus questions. Each round was themed. There was a visual round where they gave you sheet with 8 stills from sketch comedy movies or shows and you had to name them. There was also a hip hop audio round for which you only had to answer whether the artist was east or west side. I got all of those right, which was weird. Anyway, it was really quite fun and they have quizzes at several bars all over Colorado every night. I think we should partake in this more frequently.
On Wisconsin
I don't follow college football all that much (especially in the early season, and especially when the Cubs are in first) No more Alvarez (the old coach) is scary to me, but yeah, losing to App St. is very very unimpressive so that leaves Wisconsin as apparently the best team in the Big Ten.
As for Vegas, I'm all for the cheapest set up which seems be be the way its shaping up, so cool. And since its just a three day weekend, I think Bonnie and I can do that at just about time in 2008. We shall go with the flow.

We Could Get Lots of Rooms
My parents have 14 nights of hotels. That means 7 rooms for 2 days, 4 rooms for 3 days, etc. Its not that cut and dry, but its close. If you want more privacy, you can get a studio, but I'd suggest splitting some 2 bedroom villas. More fun and cheaper. I just want to get a head count so my dad can give me an official quote.
Drew, how good do you think Michigan is besides that loss? I wouldn't be surprised if they still manage to win 9 games this season. Earlier I meant that Wisconsin is looking great to win the Big Ten. Yeah, the Big Ten always seems to slip right when they reach the spotlight (Ohio State and Michigan last year). Anyway people have been predicting Wisconsin, but now its looking a lot more likely.

Vegas
1. February 15-18 which is the actual Presidents Day weekend.
2. Jan 19-21
3. March 15-23 sometime
I will stay wherever. Josh's place sounds good. Although we could check out flight + hotel packages and see what makes more sense. Also, Josh, can we only get one room?
I looked at Travelocity and it looks like for the Feb dates, for example, if Bonnie, Drew, Mikey, Kim got one room (with separate bedroom, course), with flight and hotel, the total would be $384 per person. However, with Josh's deal, it would be about $220.

On Michigan
Them losing to App St. doesn't really help Wisconsin at all. In fact, it probably hurts. The game doesn't count toward winning the Big Ten, but it does make the Big Ten look weak. That in turn makes Wisconsin's strength of schedule lower, which makes it tougher to get to the National Championship Game. ...and how long have we been the "Balls Tars"?

Re: Vegas Accommodations
Sorry, i didn't make that completely clear. It will be $100/night give or take a little. So like $16/person. There are no blackout dates or weekend premiums. Also we can get multiple rooms next to each other if needed. We just pay my parents and we're done. I looked up weekend rates and the best I could find on the strip was a north strip hotel (not a casino) for $89/night. I
definitely respect wanting a killer location because it does save on transportation, however I have stayed at this place and its location is pretty decent. I promise that its easy walking distance to the north half of the strip and from there its no problem to take the shuttle up and down the rest of the strip. I bet you could find a decent deal at a central hotel like MGM Grand, but I think to do so you'd have to be really digging around. See if you can find a better deal, but I don't know if it can done.
Here's a map of the monorail.

Ok I found a good comparison. Our hotel is almost exactly like staying in the Stratosphere. If you've been to Las Vegas, you know that's at the end of the strip, but its in no way far out. When I say off the strip, consider the distance the same as simply staying at the Stratosphere.
My preferred dates:
I'd just like to go sooner than later, but earlier than 2008 may be a hassle.
1. Jan 19-21.
2. Anytime in Mar 15-23.
3. After May 16.

Vegas questions
Would that be $100/night/room or $100/night/person? Any blackout dates like New Years, MLK, spring break? Can they get more than one room if necessary?
Also, if we're going to do Las Vegas, maybe we should DO Vegas - stay on the strip in a cheesy hotel/casino and all that comes with it. Would it be that much more expensive once you take into account meals/drinks/etc?
I'm guessing that the number of people that can come is going to depend on when it is. Maybe we should all post something like 1st, 2nd, 3rd date choices and dates that we cannot go. We'll start:
1. Anytime in Mar 15-23.
2. Jan 19-21.
3. After May 16.
We can't go before the end of the year.
AWESOME LAS VEGAS NEWS
My parents have a timeshare and have some points with Hilton. We could get a 2 bedroom & living room & full kitchen for around $100 or so a night. Weekend, weekday, doesn't matter. The only thing is, we have to tell my parents soon so they can make reservations. Anyway, there are 2 bedroom rooms that hold 4-6 people, 1 bedroom places that hold 2-4 and a studio that holds 2-4. When I say bedroom, I mean a separate room with a bed. So the extra two people are sleeping on the pullout couch in the living room. Anyway, if we want to do this, we could all stay in 1-3 rooms right by each other near the strip. Its not on the strip, but its pretty close. More specifically, its close to the Monorail so it shouldn't be a problem getting home.
Check out the pictures and see what you think. Go to the living room and the master suite. What they're showing is a 2 bedroom.

If people are interested, get back to me about it ASAP so we can get a head count and get this train moving.

Wow, By 1pm I've Already....
Made 4 pounds of badass pulled pork in the crock pot (its CRAZY easy!), made 4 pounds of chicken wings, watched CU beat CSU in overtime with 8 friends and drank some icy cold Miller Genuine Draft. Even Michigan lost to Appalachian State (great for you Drew, I think Wisconsin has got the Big 10). Just have to clean up real quick and take a nap. Waking up early is fucking paying off.
I realized that like Drew, I logged in as Gloria. You probably figure it out with the football reference, but yeah, its me, Josh.
And another thing!
So I was hanging out with folk who I haven't seen in about two years, and we were talking a very small bit about what we're planning on doing/actually doing for our carers. We figured that a job is what sucks the life out of you, and that a career is what, if you're lucky, you do because you enjoy it and it makes you money. So, it got me thinking, what are y'all's (can you use two apostrophes in one word?) carers? What, if I may be so blunt, are your grown-up jobs? Mine is comic book/movie writer. I also plan on buying a unicorn with a fantastic, glittering kaleidoscopic mane, naming it BLOOD RAINBOW, and riding it to work.
Sleepwalking would totally suck
because I am not usually a man of Worry, but I would be if I sleepwalked (sleptwalk? sleptwalked?). There was a dude who straight murdered his lady while sleepwalking. He went to the kitchen, got a knife, and stabbed her to death while she slept. Crazy shit, no? But, if you sleptwalkered, how do you know if you're gonna' murder a motherfucker or if you're just going to get a drink of water or wander around?
You wouldn't, and that's what would keep you up at night, preventing you from murdering people.
