I think Isabella Rosellini and Bjork were separated at birth. Why did I never hear of this awesomeness until this weekend? (Don't worry, its not REALLY a porno)

Adobe
Help with Adobe Acrobat
Isn't there a way to manipulate text in a .pdf document? Actually, what I need to do is copy and paste sections of a .pdf document into a Word document, and be able to manipulate that text. I feel like I've definitely done this before, but I can't figure out how.
I tried saving the whole thing as a .txt document, but it came up blank. I also tried to save it as a .doc document, but I wasn't able to manipulate the text in that.
Help. I want to be super employee and no one can figure it out.

Ben Gibbard's voice?
I have to ride my bike to my new garden! Woot.
Good Job, Google
The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee today asked Google, the parent company of the popular online video-sharing site, YouTube, to "immediately remove content produced by Islamist terrorist organizations" from YouTube and prevent similar content from reappearing. However, the company immediately refused to comply with his request.
Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) made the request in a letter to Eric Schmidt, the chairman of the board and chief executive officer at Google, in which he said that YouTube "unwittingly, permits Islamist terrorist groups to maintain an active, pervasive and amplified voice despite military setbacks or successful operations by the law enforcement and intelligence communities."
Lieberman asked the company not only to remove existing content but also identify changes that Google plans to make to YouTube’s community guidelines and explain how it plans to enforce the guidelines. Lieberman said removing such content should be "a straightforward task since so many of the Islamist terrorist organizations brand their material with logos or icons identifying their provenance."
Fortunately, Google has some balls:
"While we respect and understand his views, YouTube encourages free speech and defends everyone's right to express unpopular points of view," the company said. "We believe that YouTube is a richer and more relevant platform for users precisely because it hosts a diverse range of views, and rather than stifle debate, we allow our users to view all acceptable content and make up their own minds."
Creepy things are going down. Here's a nice McCarthyist bill that apparently passed the house with bipartisan support. And here's a nice report by Lieberman about why we should censor the fuck out of anything and everything.

Thursday
I would go to the show, but I have a fancy dinner at MacKenzie's that's free... and I don't pass up free things. I've never been to a techno show, though, so let me know the next time there's one that's actually good. And for the record, my favorite is OK Computer, by any band. The Bends is second. I do really like In Rainbows but it'll take a while before it could possibly match either of those two because I have a lot of history with them... we've been through good and bad, happiness and sorrow.
Carl
Let me know if you want to come.
Also, stop shacking up with your GF and hang out. That is an order. (She should come too)

And the fun starts again...
AND
As long as it's campaign season, why not analyze McCain's Typeface, there are some interesting correlations drawn, good for a few chuckles.
Speaking of shows
Armin is my favorite dj and has been voted the #1 dj in the world recently (that's right...better than Oakenfold).
Anyone interested in going? Carl, Logan?
You speak for yourself, Drew.
The Faint and Radiohead
BTW, speak for yourself about OK Computer as your favorite. The Bends is also my favorite.

Pitchfork IS Horrible
I'll reply to the rest in a little. I was just excited to see that someone else despises Pitchfork.
EDIT: I also agree that the new Radiohead is deceptively good. I listened to it and it didn't really catch me, but at the same time I wanted to listen to it more. I still like The Bends the best, but it is an awesome album.
Does anyone else enjoy the new Electric Six album?

1: Pitchfork Media is a horrible review website. They are overly pretentious and fond of using empty phrases.
2: In any case, the new album is somewhat interesting but choppy. As an album it sort of fails...the songs don't fit together well and some songs seem way too short, others way too long. They seem to be trying to channel Trent Reznor a lot of time with their industrial sounds, which I'm not really into.
Nonetheless, you can't go wrong with Beth Gibbon's voice....further a few of the songs are excellent singles in-themselves.
3/5....not worth buying but worth a listen.

3: If you like Portis Head though, you should check out Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man's Out of Season. It is one of those lost albums that people don't really know about. It is not trip-hop but an excellent harmonic album.
5/5
4: I have both of these. If you want to get on AIM sometime, I can send them your way.
5: Last thing: if you haven't heard the new Radiohead album (both discs) then you should be promptly shot. It is by far the best album since....ever. Seriously...it might be better than Ok Computer.
Welcome back Kevin
Thanks for the posts...I like the diagram-blog a lot.
I don't know that much about what exactly I will be doing (lab bitch probably). My boss is trying to insert cancer genes into stem cells to make them grow exponentially....and then use enzymes to remove the cancer genes afterwards. This would allow an easy way to mass produce stem cells if successful.

I have so much hope for our nation. I know it sounds cliché. But I really think that Obama has the potential to put us back on track. I am going to be very discouraged if this whole election turns South.
2. Way to go Dustin on the job. That sounds awesome and we all want to hear more details!
3. Matt your illustrator is amazing.

Hockey & Star Trek
"Many spectators were physically sickened by the sight, with nine fainting and two suffering heart attacks while three teammates vomited on the ice. Local television cameras covering the game cut away from the sight of Malarchuk after realizing what had happened."
This next one is much more light-hearted...and its the shit.
